I loved the aesthetics and mood. Moving around felt a bit janky due to the doors, but it may add to a stressful atmosphere. I think the red ghost attacks way to often, so it became annoying more than scary. I couldn't find the first item to give to the first blue ghost unfortunately, so I became stuck and stopped there. Still a cool experience overall.

Edit : to add, the red ghost's sound was always exactly the same, which got a bit out of the immersion and is part of what got annoying imo. A slight variation would've helped a lot

A very well done game, the graphic and atmosphere reminded me of PSX horror games, especially RE (intro felt like RE saving room bgm). I really liked how the flashlight is charging up automatically by itself when it's turned off. I think it will be good to have an indication of the witch current positron when she starts screaming, other than that the game is well polished, felt like a demo of a commercial game. I had fun playing it and I think it has lot of potential. Great job!

Maybe you can include a map to orient yourself when the flashlight batteries run out, or that you can turn on the lights in the mansion rooms at least temporarily. The graphics and sounds sections are great, I'm very fearful as you can tell.

Cool game! I like the story and the take on good and bad ghosts. The graphics are cool, did you use some sort of CRT screen shader ? The game was really effective in terms of spookyness, well done, it’s not easy to generate stress upon players! I had some problems with the large doors blocking the way when opened and the go-fetch/find quests were a bit frustrating for me but I think it depends for every player. Congratulations! :)

Yeah we used a CRT shader to give like PSX vibes. I wasn't too sure of it but my partnert was very fixated with the shader. Thanks for the feedback!

WOAH! I hate horror games, but I got some pretty legit jump scares out of this! Fantastic showing, absolutely something to be proud of. For reference I played on Easy mode

What I liked:

  1. The ambiance was great! Rain and the CRT effect and all the audio really meshed nicely together
  2. The story was intuitive and the house design (while easy to get lost in) was fun and unique. It felt like a house.
  3. The flashlight worked well and the dog's tutorial was superb!
  4. The game was ACTUALLY scarry!
  5. I loved finding the collectable paintings! Didn't get them all, but wanted to!

What could have been better:

  1. The light was frustrating to use in tight corridors and doorways. It got stuck on geo, lowering your arm and canceling its use. Just let it stay up! Flashlight range also breaks when outside.
  2. There were no accessibility settings for head bob or fov, both of which can easily lead to motion sickness in a game like this.
  3. Checkpoints please! Would have loved to go back and replay if I knew I didn't have to start over. (Easily spent 20 min in my first playthrough and was almost done returning the last item!

Again, great work! Keep making games!

"The light was frustrating to use in tight corridors and doorways"

Yeah, we wanted to add like the feeling of having a real light and you get close to the wall you move the hand but it ended up being a bit frustraiting especially in the stairs

"Checkpoints please!"

Can you believe we didn't think of this? It would have been easy to implement, how did we miss that?

Very thank you for your feedback, I haven't done many jams and this is my first time in this one and this feedback actually helps me to know what to do when giving feedback to other people. Thank you so much for the time spent playing our game and rating it. Best of luck and I'll have another go at your game and will try to leave a better feedback cause I feel the comment I left was very simple.

Thanks!

Awesome visuals and ambiance, I definitely got jump scared a couple of times, because every bit of sanity was counting. I also really liked the architecture of the house, the "old TV" shader and the looks and animations of the ghosts. After 2 runs, I figured out the strategy to wait in a corner for my flashlight to recharge and expect the direction of the ghost coming. I got to the four diamonds key, but couldn't find the next token - was it somewhere outside? I'd give it another try with a hint ;)

Couple suggestions: some checkpoints would be nice, starting the game over got a bit frustrating after my fifth try. The game was also pretty hard even on the easy difficulty (might be because I was playing on a touchpad, lol). The ghost was sometimes killing me through a wall or the flashlight wasn't immediately working, which drained like half of my sanity a couple of times. Also, after death, the game doesn't seem to be resetting correctly - the first ghost was invisible and the second was accepting the picture even though I didn't see it in my next playthroughs.

That being said, this is still an awesome project for a week-long game jam, great job! Definitely a top contender :)

"was it somewhere outside?"

I believe the last item is a token for the ghost kid that is outside. That item is upstars, then to the right, to the right again and then to the left. It's an old watch located by the TV if I don't recall wrong.

"some checkpoints"

Yeah we've been suggested that. It's a great idea and I can't believe we dind't think of that ourselves. But believe me when I tell you I won't forget about this in the next jam :D

"The ghost was sometimes killing me through a wall or the flashlight wasn't immediately working"

Yeah we had many issues with this and were trying to do something to avoid hitting the ghost through walls etc. We used a raycast in the end to not go through walls but it wasn't enough. We should have used a combination of an area plus a raycast to fix hitting the ghost through walls while being able to hit the ghost with the light easily. A week seems like a lot, but it's not haha

Very thank you for your time, as I mentioned to another person, seeing these comments helps me to understand what to write to other people and how to leave feedback to other people. We are sort of new to jams.

I will try your game again and I will try to leave another comment with more feedback (Although I actually had your game in the list to be tried again cause I wanted to see if I could get out of the house when the shadows appeared without being killed :D)
