Not a bad entry. I think it could of used sound effects to help fill in the gameplay but with limited time making these games, I understand. Still, great job overall making a 3D game!
It's an interesting idea. From what I read in the comments, you weren’t able to implement some things, but it’s still well done. I see potential for you to finish it and improve some specific issues like the sound or the UI art. Good job!! :)
I would recommend adding pictures to the game listing
Walking music should be toned down a bit or slowed so it can match the player walking
Maybe make a template for future projects that include prebuilt settings like a title, end screen, etc. (like why make it from scratch every time?)
Thanks for your thoughts! I wholeheartedly agree with the prebuilt settings/title/end screen. In fact, this is what messed me up, my prebuilt UI wasn't built robustly enough to quickly implement the title/end screen! So I'm starting from scratch next time to make it flexible enough :)
Is the game supposed to close at the end? Other than that pretty nice, although sound can be improved.
As far as "Supposed to", I have skeleton code prepared for a points screen and leaderboard system that I ran out of time to implement, and we even have an OST of 4 songs and some SFX that is sitting in a GDrive that I didn't have time to implement. This is my second gamejam, and the first gamejam I had enough of something to submit, so I appreciate your kindness!
It would have been nicer to just have a screen saying thank you for playing rather than completely quiting, just a white box with thank you text. Atleast that's what I think, either way it's a nice game, I think this can be plenty popular if you can get it to work on mobile, a sort of timepass game.
Unfortunately your game is not playable at the moment
You either want to zip the .exe with the pck and upload that OR
re-export the project while checking this checkbox
That's in
Project > Export
then inside the Windows Desktop (Runnable) Preset under the Binary Format section you hit the Embed PCK checkbox and re-export.
I would just zip up every file that the export produces (even if it is just a single .exe to be honest) It just makes it easier to share.
Anyways, I will check back here to see if I can play your game :) Hopefully I can.
If you want, you can also check out the game we made for the jam! It's a fun lil driving game with some combo mechanics and an online leaderboard. Looking forward to playing your submission
Thanks so much for the heads up! First submission, so I didn't realize I needed to embed/zip file the pck file. Unfortunately I can't upload anything because of the jam timing, but I uploaded a zip file to Google Drive. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1l_Qp5bHcD5pl9AeWeaj4JWTqotDfWQlf?usp=dri...
Yippie, I was able to play it
Awesome! I will definitely be checking your game out; and thankfully they gave us an hour grace period to upload the fix :)
