At first, there was a lot of UI, but later it becomes so fun :) I want to work there :D

Submitted(+1)

It took me a while to get the UI but when I got it, it was a fun game :D

I also like the LOTR references :)

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks, Khalynin! You are the first to mention the LOTR references! :) Sorry for the UI issues!

Oooh, I have seen this one on Ultra Jam!

Nice to see you expanded it a bit to join into classic as well! All around, it's pretty good, aside maybe generator sound (it's a bit too overpowering). I wish there was an endless mode!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the generator sound is annoying! I will work on that for the next interaction.

You wanted an endless mode! That is sweet to read. If I extend the duration, will tell you about it.

Both things are true in my view, Sinclair. The sound you made is good, as I said. But when the pitch and volume increase by a lot (which was my decision, as I was programming) with the acceleration of the turbine, it gets annoying.

Developer

I probably should not increase pitch and volume linearly.

Fun resource management game, overall. Would've loved the option to quiet the sound, it got a little grating after a while, but I just ended up quieting the computer audio and playing :D Also (I think you got this feedback already) but some better indicators of core status would be good for us colorblind folks! Thanks for posting!

Thanks for the feedback, YouCarryOats! I agree the sound is currently annoying. I think decreasing its volume and choosing a nicer pitch will help keeping it in the game. Thanks for silencing your computer instead of giving up the game!

Yeah, I got the color feedback, and I did improve the color differentiation between the Ultra and Classic jams, but I guess I have to work more on that. Perhaps you could provide some interesting ideas on this matter. Would you mind talking about it at some point?

Yeah I'm in the discord server by the same name, look me up! For color, I think fading to a white or black to indicate when resources are being used up would be really clear (even if it's a menu toggle instead of the game's default). But happy to chat more on discord as you continue to develop!

I didn't see the evolution part come to play, but there's some really interesting gameplay here in this game. Carefully manipulating the control rods was really satisfying!

I might suggest some UI improvements, like the temperature gauge being a bit more clear on what levels started where (like a bar, or even just an indicator of when things would tick over), and I think I would have liked dragging the cooling rods to a desired height a bit more than simply pressing a button. But all in all, great!

Thanks for your feedback! It is much appreciated, and my main motivation to participate in jams.

The evolution part was truly minimal: The atoms evolve, that is my take on evolution. But yeah, it is not a great use of it. What happened is that I focused on Ultra (theme: too much power) with a little bit of the Classic theme.

I agree that some precision could help in the temperature aspect, and the interaction with the cooling rods can be improved. At the same time, I think a bit of the charm lies in the imperfect control, like, the cooling rods going up or down too slowly.
