How does your game fit the theme?
By using his arm of assembly, Rex can store multiple guns upon his arm and shoot them all in very quick succession. In addition, he and the foes he faces craft combos that are equally intriguing and annoying
Shortly after thwarting the plans of the evil time traveling dark_knight "guy", Rex Riptide must fight his way out of the ruins of guy's castle, besting the construction knights and construction bats of guy's army

Overall I think I had the most fun when I felt like I was zipping around and being a badass dodging bullets. What do you think about having the dodge give you some invincibility frames to dodge through bullets and enemies?
Glad you enjoyed it! My biggest inspiration for the movement was super smash bros. melee
The slide does have frame 1 invincibility. You can yeet yourself into bullets and just delete them. I probably should have had a combo limit on the player (and make enemies actually take knockback properly). I planned to have a UI indicator of weapons, but I was already programming the boss and the combine mechanic on the last day, so I might push that in a later release.

Nice game, Don't have much experience in topdown shooter games but I would say it holds up pretty well. Also "ROCKET LAUNCHAAA" I kept saying that while playing haha
My favorite SFX of all time. There's a bit of movement tech if you're willing to try and find it. It is a speedrunning game after all. Do you remember what your time was?

I added controller input in mine ass well but really late and forgot to make a block changing control input. I'll update it after the jam.
I tried playing both versions, both we're flagged as virus after some wrestling with it i managed to get it working:
-I don't understand how gun combining works, or it didn't work? I tried to combine the weapons but nothing was happening
-Enemies ignore Immunity frames, also when you kill someone their hitbox still lingers for like second or two.
- I managed to glitch through the walls by using dash when bullet hit me, I gained a ton of momentum and glitched through wall and locked door.
-No idea what to do with the doors? There hasn't been any keys or anything.
Overall pretty fun concept, if the gun combining would work. I feel like the concept is good to work through after the jam. Cheers
first: for gun combining, pick up a gun then get 30 gold. A "+" will appear. Press the combine button. You can stack up to 4 guns this way
2nd: enemies can combo you. You can use this to your advantage to get crazy momentum
3rd: looks like you found damage boosting lol
4th: There are keys. They're purple. Look around. They're surrounded by dirt
This was a good game. I liked the music, art and sound effects. Well done! I think you should continue working on this project after the game jam. I played the original version that was submitted because the new version that you posted in the comments was flagged as a virus by Windows and didn't let me download it. The movement felt smooth. Sometimes it felt like I'd shoot my gun facing one way and then I would turn away to escape the enemies and then the gun would shoot away from them, if that made any sense :) I feel like the gun should shoot more instantly when I press the button. Anyways, great job!
I gave the guns different startup and endlag as a balancing mechanic. If the MP7 shot at frame 2 like the pistol, then there'd be no reason to not use it. If I continue the project, I'll make the guns reference your direction at the time of the button press instead of the direction at the time of shooting.
The most broken build RN is 3 snipers tied together. The endlag of the first 2 get interrupted by the next one. Try speedrunning and see what time you can get. My record is 2 minutes flat. Here's a tip: increase your speed like crazy by chaining dashes and slides together

Have you figured out how to wavedash? Do dash -> slide -> dash -> slide
The soundtrack should not be able to slap this hard wth. Nice work!

Overall the game was fun! The soundtrack was absolutely amazing! As a fellow bass player I am blown away! One problem I encountered though was that some enemies didn't die correctly and instead would be stuck looping in their death animation.

Uh I tried running it but my system won't let me and it says that it is a virus. I'm using windows and I'm sure I'll find a way around this but maybe, after the jam, you could try exporting as an exe file instead.
most files I download form itch are mistakenly labeled as viruses. All it takes is a few menus (keep, run anyway) for your system to let you run the program.
