I am not finished testing (see below why), but I have a few remarks.
(And I also realize you chose the first name Roland because it sounds like roll; I am a bit slow on the uptake, sometimes. XD)
I could not make after even the second lava lake… I only sometimes manages to jump several times in a row to reach high in the air, but I am unsure how this works.
Could you please explain the controls a bit more in the game page or/and the comments here? That would help immensely.
I will come back if you answer; I feel I have not seen enough to judge the game yet. (Although I can already say I like its style. :))
PS (24/07/2022): allright, trying again, figured it out: the controls are once again QWERTY-based, and I may have not tried enough my ill-placed Z on my AZERTY: I manage to hover a long time. Testing and then voting.
PPS: made it reasonably far this time. I must say I believe there is still a problem with the controls and display: it looks like the jetpack does not show sometimes when it should, and the jumping responds strangely (as SwornCoyote said, you need to press one key and then the other). I also would have like the number of available rolls diplayed, because this is not explicit at the moment (unless I missed something).
I also notice that you used the theme for the context and visuals only (and did so nicely!); I tend to prefer the theme to be used (also) in the gameplay, but that’s personal.
Anyway, if you correct these gameplay problems (and it should be easy to fix!), you will have a nice cute endless runner. :)
Ah nice to meet Mr. Roland!
Pretty interesting little game! Like an endless runner but with a die with a jetpack! I will say the controls were a tad confusing. I tried pressing the one button and sometimes it would give me a jetpack but it wouldn't fly really, but then I'd die. But then seems like I could press the other key and roll before hitting the ground which helped me most of the time. Though eventually I figured out the secret... if you press both z and x you can jump in the air! So that helped with the lava parts but still had to duck under the walls. But I made it farther at least!
Anyways pretty cool and good work on this!
I did not fully understand what the x and z keys did. I think one of them is for jump and the other is for changing form? Also, I could not figure out which form could touch the ground. It seemed like touching the ground had a 50/50 chance of dying.
You cannot touch the ground when there is a jetpack behind Roland, if I have seen correctly.
