How does your game fit the theme?
My game incorporates the theme "Loop" by forcing the player to continue to replay each level again and again, until they have placed clones of themselves at specific points in the level, allowing themselves to climb or jump to the flag. The lore is that these creatures are held captive and used to playtest games for clients to determine if levels are possible, the amount of deaths are recorded by the scientists and the cycle continues, as people continue to make games.

cool game, but felt bad killing the cute character so many time ;-;

some levels like the bridge one were probably harder than they needed to be due to it being too easy to push corpses around

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! I’m kicking myself so much having not made the clones weigh more 😭 Glad you thought it was cool tho 🙏

Great game, managed to eventually complete all the levels, I actually quite liked the music, it got a little repetitive towards the end but I think that had more to do with me constantly pushing the bodies I'd stacked off the map repeatedly towards the end and getting frustrated than strictly the music. Felt like an epic journey of futility, a real greek classic vibe with the music.  -- Chris

Thanks so much for playing and making it all the way through! Truly a great feat 🙏 I’m glad the music didnt completely ruin the experience for you haha 😆

Cool game, loved the animations, but music felt out of place.

Developer

Thanks for playing! Certainly gonna switch out the music after the jam 😭

Well made, but the music didn't fit the game .

Developer

Thanks for playing! I’m getting cooked for the darn music haha 😭

Love the character and animations. It adds a lot just seeing the face animate and even the flag blowing. As others have said, jumping and pushing the bodies was a bit frustrating and didn't feel the music fit so well.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I’m glad you liked the character, I loved doing their lil animations. The physics is certainly more jank than I would’ve liked 😭

The game is well made, the music is really cool and although it felt weird jumping with W, I eventually got used to it, only problem in my opinion is the fact that it's too easy to push the bodies, it took me so long to beat level 9, but other than that the game is great. Well done

Developer

Thanks for playing! I always fall into the same trap of getting used to play testing my game by myself and then I struggle to balance the difficulty haha. If I revisit this project I’ll have to mess around with the physics and weights for sure.

Simple but fun! The music is so dramatic I felt bad killing the character lol

Developer

I’m glad you had fun! Thanks for playing!

this was really fun! i got stuck on level nine, unfortunately. the physics are very sensitive.

Developer

I’m glad you had fun playing! Sorry about the jank I aughta go back in and fiddle with the physics after the rankings

Played this earlier but didn't get the chance to rate it. I've seen quite a few games under this idea, and this one's pretty interesting! I think the jump from the first level to the second level was too sudden, since it needs 6 retries at least, going from the first level which requires none.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! That was one of the things I was unsure how to do, if I revisit this project I’d have to come up with some way to more gradually introduce the mechanics

I like the premise of the game of dying and respawning as a clone to get over obstacles. A couple of the levels were pretty neat with that mechanic. Not gonna lie, the dead versions being able to be pushed around is both great and detrimental to the design the game. I got stuck on level 9, because after hopping off a dead body over from another one of the fan things made me keep pushing my dead bodies off the platform. My biggest gripe isn't that, but it's the audio. The music absolutely doesn't fit the game, no offense, but it seems like you just looked up 'epic royalty-free fantasy music.' The lack of sound effects is jarring as well.

Developer

Yea you pretty much hit the nail on the head with the music thing haha. I wanted classical music to give that squid game esc mysterious vibe and I looked through so much stuff, landed on one that said royalty free in the title, but the comments said it was not actually and I was so thrown off that I just took something from the site that was provided for this jam. I really wish I had more time to spend on the interactions and physics, but I was traveling so time was quite limited :( Thanks so much for playing and for the comment and feedback! I appreciate it! Aughta swap out the music and add some sound effects in a future update haha

An interesting concept, however the janky physics makes maneuvering the dead versions of you incredibly difficult. The artwork is amazing, however the music doesn't really fit and the lack of sound effects doesn't help.

Developer

Totally fair, I went through so much music looking for something I was certain wasn’t going to get me disqualified for not being public domain and couldn’t find anything I was happy with, but already coded the music system, so ended up kinda throwing something in unfortunately. Thanks for playing and for the compliment on the art! Means a lot 😁
