Interesting! Pretty cool mechanic!

Be sure to check out my game if you can!

Was interesting! However, my health bar seemed to grow unexpectedly large, even when I didn't appear to get pickups, to the point where I simply couldn't move, and the player was glitching through the health bar. Additionally, the game froze and crashed, presumably due to the sheer length of the health bar.

It was fun, as others said detaching yourself from the lifebar isn’t really useful, there should be some risk/reward put there (maybe giving a better weapon, or changing the player’s speed based on the lifebar size idk)

Also I don’t know if it’s a bug or voluntary but I think that at some point there was a ton of health pickup that stacked on top of one another so when I picked them I ended up with a lifebar that went way out of screen!

THanks! A long health bar being a challenge was by design but we didn't cap it and I might've gone overboard with the amount of health that gets dropped in one place... Suffice to say it's a bit more than we meant for. But hey it's a fun unintented extra challenge.

Glad you liked the game!

I like the concept.  I agree with everyone that I'm not really sure what the benefit is to detaching yourself from the life bar other than a pure challenge.  Other than that, I like the cheeky aesthetics and the sound design.

Sorry, my system would not let me download and run. Maybe save as html next time

Sorry to hear! Could you give some more info on what occurred? Did it get blocked by a security system?

I downloadede the file and got a windows warning which I bypassed. I opened the game and Norton automatically booted it. I do have my security quite high, so maybe this is the issue. I will stick to reviewing only in browser games from now on. Hope it goes well for you.

Developer

That's fair. Well, thanks for responding, at least I know of this now! I think it's a general issue- I've had to relax my security settings to play games in this jam. Totally understandable you don't feel comfortable doing that, though, and there are plenty of browser-games out there, so enjoy!

Looks good, good atmosphere! Love the colors and the idea. Restart does not work yet. Keep it up!

I really love the colors, and idea. But to be honest, I do not know what I gain through detaching healtbar. The game also lacks some "juice" but it is still fun Jam game :)

Could use a bit more polish, but very promising!

Unique take on the concept, but I feel like the function of the health bar and the visual design can be improved. Excited to see future projects

Neat idea, I dunno if the balancing is off or something, but I ended the game with a ginormous tail of a health bar and I just sat in place shooting the final boss. Felt good though! I love the way the tail gracefully follows behind you.
