Just install an ad blocker extension.

I see where you are going, but I think it needs some tweaking. Here's my suggestions: first, I think you should display current score to the player as a motivation to keep going. Second, I believe you can make the difficulty increase gradually by making the [X] buttons bigger initially and making them smaller as the time goes. Also, you could make ad appear frequency increase gradually as well.

Nonetheless, nice job!

P. S. Why is it loading one of my CPU cores to 100%?

thanks for the ideas. We did intially plan on having a progress bar at the bottom to show what stage you are at between watching the anime and getting a virus.  Unfortunately we had technical issues and ran out of time mainly as wasn't using much from the standard game library.

As for the 100% usage it's mainly because it was written with pygame to draw the images and tick the clock. Everything else was written purely in python. So there's a lot of overhead as it is running a fully compiled version of python along side the game.

is it efficient? absolutely no where near close.

was it fun to code? yes it really was.

P.S. Unfortunately ad-hoc.tv recognises and won't allow any use ad blockers to view the website.

I quite like the concept... but the lack of end goal and win condition really makes this less of a game and more like a video stuck on loop. It's fine to have jokes and all but if the player barely know whats going on, its very hard to judge a game subjectively. Sorry.

Thanks for feedback and I do understand your points. There is actually a win condition but numbers need better tweaking as it is very hard to achieve it. Currently the win condition requires keeping less than a certain number of ads on screen for a period of time and will show you an end screen with a score based on how many ads appeared in total before you met it. I would also say it's closer to simulator with a fun take on how ads appear on these kinds of dodgy then a fully fledged game.

Really funny and creative game! Some of the art for the ads genuenly made me giggle. Definitely fits the theme. Couldn't beat it due to how small the x's where, but looking at all kinds of different ads was still quite entertaining.

Thank for your comment me and my friends are really happy to hear that you enjoyed it and 100% agree I tweaked the numbers last min for the ad spawn rate and it made the game far more difficult then intended and the win condition almost impossible to meet.
