Regarding the themes, you must choose at least 1 theme. The diversifiers are optional, but they add more points to the jam depending on the number of diversifiers used.
You don't have to make a retro game; just use them as a reference to create a new and modern game, guided by our themes and diversifiers! If you wish, you can add retro touches to your game (as some diversifiers suggest).
