Interesting artwork, but I found the controls difficult. I included it in my Geta Game Jam 10 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Thanks so much! Yeah, this was my first jam and first game I did entirely by myself actually, I agree that I have alot to learn when it comes to game feel, thanks for spending the time to play it :). And yeah I love Mason Lindroth's work! He's a big reason why I make games the way I do. Excellent jam can't wait to find some time to play all everyones games.

Hi. It's the 5th game I play in the game jam. And it was a really cool experience. Here's my opinion.
(Also I'm sorry if my english is not perfect, I'm french)

Goods:
-Evidently, the whole artistic direction is super cool. The few graphics are in a style that I really love (it remind me a  little of The Swapper). The music is so well done, it fits the mood perfectly. And the fact that it's progressive (at least I had this impression) is really cool. Just a big GG for that.

Things to change (in my opinion obviously):

-The player position is a little bit weird, so at the beginning I had difficulties knowing in which direction I would go if I boosted. (nothing really important, because after a few boosts I started to know the controls pretty well)
-The space felt a little empty (technically real space is empty but...). Your gif on your presentation page features a lot of littles planets, and I would have loved to see them, at least in the background, or maybe some stars. Because sometimes I was just travelling in a blue background.
-To follow this idea, the more you eat (so the more you grow up), the more the "food" (that looks like stars by the way) become smaller and smaller, arrived at a point where you can't see them anymore.

Generally:
A really good game with a really cool artistic direction, especially the music, but it feels a little empty at some point.

The music is actually a 10 minute loop that just flows nicely with the general pace I predicted people would play the game at (good job me!), and yeah I really need to practice getting game feel right I struggled alot just getting the controls to feel good. The universe generation was really tricky to get going I had initially planned for there to be more than the current amount of objects to eat all the way up to black holes so food -> asteroids -> big asteroids -> moons -> planets -> suns -> solar systems -> galaxies ....etc but I couldn't figure out a good way to program it in a manner that ran at more than 5 fps in the limited time frame for the jam lol. Glad you enjoyed the art though, thanks for playing!

Not able to run the game on Windows 10. Are there other files needed other than the executable?

Developer

shouldn't be, should just be the exe file?

Developer

Turns out you may need the unity crash handler file, I've added it to the game page so you can download it as well :), just make sure it's in the same directory as the exe and you should be good to go!

Fixed now!
