  • Maybe it's just me, but I find the font really hard to read!
  • Very fun puzzle game and features like being able to make and share your puzzles is really cool. Really dig the vibes of the game too, the style is cool and it has great music and sound effects. Hope you have time to keep working on this, it is the kind of game I can see myself pulling out time and time again.
  • Font was a bit hard to read, but I am rubbish at these games so couldn't get very far. Still, plays nice
  • TLDR: awesome game! Graphics are excellent, although I have a couple of issues with them: * The limits of the board are not marked, so sometimes I have to move the cursor to the border to check were it is. It would have been good to draw board limits with a blue pen for example. * Story text is a bit hard to read, specially on the micro. In game digits and the rest are great however. Music also fits like a glove, really good choice. I would have liked another song to have a bit of variety, but audio is great as it is. Story mode has been awesome, it's a shame it is so short. Besides, it would be great for new players to be able to learn how to play the game with a tutorial and/or easy 5x5 puzzles for example. Create mode is the icing on the cake: really nice addition, I have had lots of fun with it. The only nitpick left is the keypad: sometimes a single press move the cursor two cells instead of one, but it is not a big deal. If I have so much nitpicks is because I have had so much fun with your game. It would be great if you could continue working on it. One of the best jam entries for sure.

Jam ROM submission

Ok - understood! I attached the GBA ROM file as "MYGAMENAME_jam.gba".

Aside from Butano engine, the game uses CC0 module music by congusbongus (https://modarchive.org/index.php?request=view_by_moduleid&query=190762) (slightly edited to be playable correctly on loop), plus parts of the text output code were coded by me during the previous GBA Jam

I found the font hard to read, but happily finished all of them! Any plans to add more puzzles in the future? This is the perfect game for me to play on the bus!

thanks for the font feedback, and yes, i am planning to add more puzzles and custom puzzle slots soon, as well as maybe set up a server for exchanging custom puzzle saves should i have the means!

for now i'd like to suggest you renaming various files under 64kbits in size to "notenogram_jam.sav" and seeing what custom puzzles they produce c':

This was a lot of fun. Ran it on an Analogue Pocket and did not run into any issues. The font was initially a little hard to read but you adjust pretty quickly. The graphics were nice and it felt very nostalgic for some reason. I am no good at these types of puzzles but doing them was enjoyable and straightforward. It'll be staying on my pocket for sure. I could use a hint feature but that's on me for not being good at these. Thanks for making this!

thank you for the detailed feedback, really appreciate it! (especially on the font, since i worried many people would have problems reading it)

as a matter of fact, there are hints in the game, though they only activate when coloring a wrong square, just pay attention to the upper left side of the screen c:

Thanks, I'll give it another go when my wife is done trying it out. She loves games like that and is much better. Thank you for pointing it out! I look forward to seeing more projects from you in the future.

I never even heard of picross before, but once I read up on how it works, I found this very enjoyable. Also very nice pen&paper-style graphics, fits very well with it.
