  • Finally a scary game on GBA. I found it surprisingly intuitive and especially like the the way the game teaches the player without having to be explicit or throw textboxes at you.
  • The character gets a bit stuck when walking close to the walls, and it's hard to tell at the beginning where to go because the graphics are too basic.
  • While this game is a little rough around the edges, the horror elements are really well done - I've never seen panning be used as an essential aspect of a GBA game before! The forest entrance is really hard to find, I almost missed it.
  • Liked the use of sound
  • Great experience! Forest is really scary, specially when you only see your character. However: * The forest is hard to find, you have to walk out of bounds to see the door. * Character sometimes get stuck when it shouldn't. * Sometimes, an enemy appears just in front of the character without hearing it first. With a bit more work it could become a great game.

Jam ROM submission

Ok - understood! I attached the GBA ROM file as "MYGAMENAME_jam.gba".

I kept walking horizontally and was ready to say "ok, that's the game" till I found out the forest and the actual play :)) That's a very ingenious concept to use sounds to localize enemies. I didn't pay attention while playing, but have you also done the 3D audio thing?

Thanks for playing! I probably wouldn't call it 3d audio since I have trouble implementing sound algorithm that can help determine if something is ahead or behind the player character. But yeah that was the goal which might be too ambitious for the GBA.

Still that's a great initiative. As the one who knows little about sounds on the GBA, you have my honest congratulations!
