We originally started this project for the My Little Roguelike Jam. With the extra month FFS Jam offered, we built out the foundation quite a bit and added some content too! It's far from finished, but it works and the basic outlines of the plot are there.

Very creative, unique game! My player gets stuck when I type O on the wrong part of the wall that isn't a door.  I love the 8-directional keys (technically 9 since s takes you down the stairs).

Woo a fellow roguelike maker!  Yours is really responsive with the movement and attack animations, the UI and character look nice, and the overlapping walls that become transparent when behind them a good touch.  The line of sight was well done, I like that I could see 1 tile through a door, but Im not sure if that was intentional, because I could also attack through a closed door.  I know there isnt a win condition yet, but I'd like to see more depth in the types of decisions the player has to make, think that would really add to the gameplay.   For a QoL change, you might want to make doors open by bumping them, and have a hotkey for a close door action, instead of a key for open .  I can definitely see you got some big roguelike fundamentals down, and have made a good foundation to build on to!

Hey! I liked playing your game! Thanks for making it ^_^ If I may give some feedback, I think it is important that there is a bit more player feedback in your game. For example, give me some sound effects or visual effects when fighting. Now I dont really know what is happening. Did I damage the enemy, or did they damage me? I know there is text, but it is difficult to see which text is from the previous rounds. And I think visuals and sound would be a lot more dramatic ^^
I liked the opening and closing of doors, while still seeing an outline of the room ahead. You know if a room is a dead end or not, so you actually have something to think about when choosing which path to take. Will I risk going into this dead-end room for more stuff, or will I continue onwards and expose as many rooms as possible to find the stairs?
Can I also say that I find the controls very unusual. I would prefer to just use WASD to move, even if that means I cannot move diagonally. And then use one button (preferably E) to both open doors and climb stairs
Anyway, I can see that the game still needs work, so dont take my critisism too harshly. I liked the idea a lot and I wonder where you will take it next ^_^
