Fantastic game you've got here! I think the theme was pretty basic but you guys turned it into a really nice game anyway! First of all, huge props to the pixel artist because that's some great art and animations. Secondly, great idea for a game (who doesn't like a mining game with upgrades?) and I especially love the pickaxe-throw-jump mechanic (kinda reminds me of hollow knight lol). The gameplay was really fun, but I wish some things were a bit more randomized like crystals so not everything was predetermined and replayability would've been higher that way. I love the bossfights too, and don't even get me started on the sound design (amazing sound design). I loved the menu too, simple but great. Definitely one of the best in the jam! Good luck!

Thanks so much for the detailed feedback, I appreciate it a ton! Also, thanks for those ideas! If we get around to doing another update, we definitely plan on randomizing more aspects of the game to make it more replayable.

Ok this was AMAZING!! I can't even imagine how much effort went into the pixel art, it looks crazy good!

Controls were snappy, responsive and really drove it home with the knock back when throwing the pickaxe(my favourite control by far)!

Enemies were challenging and it was fun trying to balance different stats in preparation for the next levels. They also had good variety, so it didn't feel monotonous!

The transitions between different sections were also really good(e.g. from end of level -> upgrade menu -> next level), all by focusing on the drill

The music is also really fitting and I love the boss theme, it really helps build tension!

Only thing I would nitpick is that I could see some crystals in certain areas that were too high to reach and not reachable by the throwing pickaxe and certain enemies(like the fire breathing one) get stuck in the platforms where you can crouch to go down. Again, these are minor, but these were probably the only improvements I could think of!

Incredible job on this, this game really is one of the best in the jam!

Some of the crystals are purposely not reachable and located in other caves to add some extra ambience, but i agree that it is a little confusing (maybe we could switch it out with a background placeholder?). The bat hitboxes should be fixed in the next update. Thanks so much for the feedback (I loved your game as well so it means a ton!).

Wonderful game! It was very demoralizing to sit behind you all making this, as whenever I'd look up I'd see incredibly detailed pixel art. My one complaint is that I'm too bad to beat the boss lmao

There are multiple bosses indeed.  Two to be exact. What is the main source of difficulties when dealing with the first boss?

You can dodge the chariging attack, by jumping over it. Regularly , or with a pickaxe boost(throwing the pickaxe down when jumping)

Fun. Loved the ability to throw my pickaxe as a way to boost my jump and a weapon. Most games I’ve seen would have you shoot a bullet or do melee attacks, so this is their first time I’ve seen something like this.
