I really like this reimagining of the "Wizard of Oz" as a horror story. In particular making the scarecrow a zombie that wants brains is pretty ingenious! Nice pixel graphics as well, they fit the story quite well!

Thank you!

a grim retelling of the wizard of oz.  I enjoyed the graphic interface, and sense of open world exploration.

Thanks for the comment, I'm glad you liked it!

I enjoyed this greatly. It’s gorgeous, which never hurts, with a very muted yet vivid colour palette, and the yellow brick road makes a great mechanism for indicating exits (though a few of them didn’t quite line up as well they could have). I really felt for the poor Munchkins, pity I couldn’t do more for them!

Developer

Thank you for the comments! I found the limited colour palette of bitsy interesting to work with but I think that made my choices more intentional. And, yes, I completely agree - the pathways and exit alignment is definitely something I'd improve upon!

Clever use of the source material!

Thank you! It was great fun using the book as inspiration for this project.

I’m going to preface this by admitting that I had consulted Andrew Schultz’s map for a small portion of the initial part of the game. Overall, I loved how it was designed in a way that I could explore additional parts of the game. It’s nice to have something different in a good way. The changes from the book was quite interesting and I found that the challenges (where versions of the book’s characters cameoed in) was quite fun. There’s also a nice twist at the end, but I’m not going to spoil it.

Developer

Thanks for your feedback! I enjoyed referencing the original book and finding ways to make the game much more macabre.

I might have missed something, but what do you mean by Andrew Schultz's map?

I don’t know if you’ve come across the intfiction forum but Andrew Schultz made a map of the game and posted it there.

Developer

That is a super helpful resource! Thank you for that.

The macabre version of the scare crow, tin man, and lion gave me a chuckle.

Developer

Thank you, I had fun making them eerie!
