It's the first game in this jam that let you slow time rather than freeze something completely. I think it works well here because it makes the game easier. However, bullet time is not really new. And usually you can only do it for short periods of time, while it seems like in this game you can just slow down time for the whole game? Which makes it much easier to play. So I didn't really get the point.

For me on a Mac keyboard it was hard to press left ctrl btw, would be nice if you also allow right ctrl! Or shift maybe.

Fun little bullet hell and throwback to retro arcade gameplay, I liked it, nice work!

Liked that you made a old arcade game. For the buttons used, keep in mind that the web build already have some buttons in use like ESC and CTRL (+ W, that closses the tab, aka the game)

Cool game, interesting choice to use the left control to freeze time (first time I tried it I closed the window, lol) I liked the different enemies, would have loved some feedback on the amount of enemy health left.

Was on my toes for this game! You could have attributed the time stop mechanic to a button that was easier to get to though.

Really fun, the space vibes are there and I love a good bullet hell. Only one problem is that CRTL + W will close the tab, though not a problem if downloaded.

Developer

I actually didn't know that about ctrl + W, thanks I'll patch that up..

Thanks for playing, any suggestions or criticism? I want to work on a full release

More little polishments would be nice to get a good feel. For example when shooting the boss it doesn't really feel very satisfying, more particles, such as bullets impacting the enemy, and a sound effect when hitting the enemy. Some death particles would be good too. A visual effect, maybe like a flicker, or a shake. That'll make you really feel like your hitting it 👌

Some camera shakes can also feel impactful, though they would be more for the player. You could probably have a good use of the unity trail renderer, like adding them to bullets maybe(Though just a personal opinion since I love how that looks).

Good luck on your game, I'm sure you'll do well!

Feels good to control with some interesting bosses! Didn't ever feel like I was forced to freeze time which could be a good or bad thing, but regardless, great work!

Thanks for the feedback, It was a last minute design choice to make the bosses less in your face so I understand why slowing time isn't necessarily required but I'm working on a difficulty system and will update the game as soon as the jam rating is concluded so it'll definitely be needed in future builds lol.

Not clear how to freeze time maybe some instructions

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, Controls are on the menu screen to freeze time or rather slow it down you need to hold down the ctrl key
