  • Thanks for this fun little platformer! It took me a minute to realize that the orb at the top of the screen was a morality meter - once I realized that, the gameplay did emerge for me. I could tell that a perfect good playthrough was possible - but it was frustrating that it seemed that a perfect evil was NOT possible. For a platformer, physics/player movement is EXTREMELY important. This was a little "floaty" on the falls and "jerky" on the jumps - spend some time tweaking the feel of the controls. The artwork is fun and vibrant - I would have loved to have seen some more "juicy" effects and animations especially for the armadillo-squashing. Add sound, too! This fit the theme well and was fun to play. Thanks!
  • Great job! There is a lot that I love about this game. Great interpretation of the theme! It was easy to pick up and play. I enjoyed finding out for myself what each item did in the game to my morality meter. Mechanics could have been tighter. I did not enjoy jumping in particular. I felt that the player needed to move more in the x axis when running and jumping. Love the critters and the gore! Solid art style. Great placement of the items. (It was challenging to get a perfect "Good" Score due to this. Not sure if it's possible to get a perfect "Bad" Score.) Love the alternate endings. You do not see endings let alone alternate endings in most jam games. Nice touch! Overall a very great job!
  • This game fits the team tightly as a literal interpretation, so there may have been some missed potential, but not to much of a detriment. Gameplay-wise, the jumping feels...off. The mid-air friction and the high force and gravity make movement a little hard. The fixed camera leaves something to be desired. The movement and jumping introduce difficulty that feels more cheap than challenging because of that and limits your ability to design difficulty into placement and level design. Using general gamer knowledge it's easy to know the controls, but having a simple static guide at the beginning would be nice, even if it's just written on the sky. The morality piece, though, isn't apparent right away, nor are what raise or lower your morality. The art and animations you made are great! Making a custom player would have been an improvement, and lack of sound takes some points off. Things seem to be fairly cohesive, but just it just feels like it's lacking something to bring it all together.

Thanks for the feedback.  I was aware of the bugs in the jump code.  Im sure I sound like a broken record but It was one of those things I just ended up moving on with because it was taking too much time. The collision code also had issues and there was one spot in particular I noticed in public play testing after the deadline where people often get stuck in the wall.  My goal was to deliver a polished game demo by the end of the weekend but as always I have just barely managed to deliver a playable game with bright points but a couple of issues that hold it back from being a great game. Maybe next time. I am still proud of the game I did end up making and the amount of work involved. I do not have any plans to go forward with this game but the ideas and mechanics may find their way into game ideas in the future.

Here is what I would have worked on if I had A couple more hours:

1. sound

2. level design (quality and quantity)

3. more enemies and good deeds.     I had the idea of flying enemies you could jump on and chain to jump on another.  The armadillos should be able to kill you if they run into you from the front but you chould be able to kill them if you jump onto of them like the turtles in mario or perhaps they could roll up into a ball and you could kick them into each other? There was also the idea of having one character mugging another which you could  choose to jump on the mugger or the muggee.

4. Jump/colision code.

5. Boss fight.     If I had the time I would fully animate the badger and have an actual boss fight scene.
