Hey, I like how the background music made the atmosphere really well and the design too. I do notice the text are really squished, like, some of them went out of the box and some collided with the design, making it hard to read because of the similar colors (the text is black and it collided with the dark design). However, everything else is good. Great job!

Developer

Darn! I coded the text wrap myself so it might still need a little tweaking but I thought I had it looking alright... oTL
Out of curiosity, did you play the game in browser?

Submitted

Yeah, I was playing the game in browser. Did that affect it?

The text is really squished for me but I do like the general story. I included it in my Chip ‘N Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

I love the art style and atmospher you've created in your submission.

Nice story, music and spooky atmosphere overall!

That's a great job you did in so little time!

Thanks! We are a three person team that's pretty used to working together, even if we haven't made a lot of games yet. :)

Cool art, story, and atmosphere. :) Not a ton of gameplay/decision-making, but that's understandable given how ambitious the concept is and how little time you had.

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! Which ending did you get? :D

Submitted

Finished it a couple of times (skipped a lot of text the first time so I went again) and didn't realise there were several endings to be honest - I think I just did the same things both times though, thinking there was only one path.

I think it ended when I fell down a river, woke up and decided to head back? How many choices are there? Might have to retract my criticism, I genuinely thought there was only one path to follow. I'm guessing the paths depend on how many random items you investigate to get information?

Developer

There are three possible endings currently, though I will say there's a bug that tends to skew the results towards the ending you got. Also, I forgot to code in a reset for hidden values when you go back to the menu, so reloading the game between plays will help! Which ending and what tarot cards you find depend on what you interact with and the order in which you interact with items in the scene.  I wanted to put in a feature with the cards where it tells you what the cards symbolize as a sort of barometer of how you are progressing... but 48 hours is so short!

I think I reloaded between plays anyways, so I just got unlucky there. Either way, nice game. :)
