I use a web-based game engine that uses JS code, and when I export it it's a standalone HTML file... probably not exactly what you're asking about but close enough. It's pretty interesting when people don't use the mainstream game engines and stuff like that!

we made this with Godot, other than a couple of pauses when the audio first plays it is pretty smooth.

I primarily develop for HTML5/web since it seems to be the best way to get people to play your games.

Here's mine, a shooter, where you play as a tab of butter trying to reach your destiny (spoiler, it's a biscuit). Takes about 5 minutes for a playthrough.
