Nice presentation! It kinda reminds me of the classic Chess game that (used to? still does?) ship with Mac OS. I haven’t played backgammon in a pretty long time so I had to look up some rules to remember how it works, but this seems like a pretty nice little version of it.

The physical dice rolling is very cool! As the other commenter mentioned, sometimes the dice roll offscreen, so it might be nice to constrain them to a specific spot or provide another camera that zooms in to show the roll result. Of course, the numbers displayed at the bottom also tell the result but that’s not as fun :)

I don’t quite understand how the game fits into the “side effects” theme, but it’s nice work nonetheless!

I enjoyed the game. No need to know how to play thanks to preview moves. ☺

Maybe you can add some sound settings? or make a quieter music? idk

hi,

Thanks for taking time to check out the game. Source code for dice (1). The idea of dice crate is to check what side is up after each collision.

Backgammon is played since 3000 bce. Its sort of racing game where your goal is to move you pireaces to 'home area' and the remove pieces from it. There are numerous modifications to the rules, but this project implements core ruleset.

I have no idea how to play backgammon but I like the graphics and throwing real dice is pretty cool. But the dice seem to leave the table pretty often and the pips are difficult to read. I think they should be a bit bigger and have colored pips, maybe.

I also think it would be fun to be able to use the mouse to toss the dice in a particular direction or something.

Nice work getting the game up and running on the web.

I was intrigued to see how you did the dice. It seems like you've packaged it up into a crate here: https://lib.rs/crates/bevy_dice which is awesome. But the source link there goes off to a seemingly unrelated project?
