The idea is really good and fun! Some stuff needs to be tweaked though. For example the zombie fall guys spawning just everywhere (also spawning far too close to the player) makes it a little bit too chaotic. Also some parts of the level are far too dark. I didn't know where I was for half the game and just hoped I was running in the right direction. But like I said, love the idea!
Love the idea! Was rather difficult since you are immediately attacked before even getting a chance to get used to the controls, but still rather fun. Not sure if this was just a problem for me because I was playing on a laptop but the fire button seemed to occasionally stop working for several seconds making moments where I was essentially defenseless. Overall love the idea and could see it being great if expanded on!
Thanks for playing. We actually wanted to add some sort of dynamic zombie spawning to the game to make it easier or harder depending on how well you were doing but other mechanics and time restraints got in the way. Goes to show how important difficulty adjustments are. As for the firing delay issue, the game does have a "reload" mechanic after two shots shown by the shells in the bottom corner. Though, to be honest, a sound effect would probably make that clearer. If that wasn't the issue could you let us know?
After playing again I do think it was the reload mechanic. I didn't notice on first play but I think you are right that a sound effect could help make that clearer. Also yea the time pressure of a game jam will definitely make it so there are things left that you wish you could do lol
The concept is very fun.
As I don’t have any reference for a game of this type, I was quite puzzled to find what to do exactly. And it’s pretty hard.
The darkness lit by the shotgun fire is a nice touch.
Good job!
Thank you for playing and for the input on our game. The three of us that worked on the game are mainly programmers so the user experience is something we're still fresh on so your comments are very needed and welcome. If you want to reply, was there anything on the "How to Play" page that you might add or change to make the game clearer?
I don’t, I think the “how to play screen” is pretty straightforward.
I just had a lot of difficulties making sense on what was happening. There were tons of little monsters, and they got my tail so I began shooting them all but couldn’t find it back, as there were too many of them
The dark lighting was nice but made it very difficult to know where to go. But it might be just a personal preference.
I think it just needs some adjustments on the difficulty at first so that the player understands what’s going on, before making it as difficult as you want.
Good luck
The idea of this game is really cool. Taking a game that already exists and put a twist on it. I knew what I was doing fairly quickly. The music was great, I enjoyed listening to it. The sounds of the horde did get extremely annoying though. I feel that it may have been a little too difficult, maybe have a couple of different difficulty settings where fewer horde members spawn.
Thanks for giving the game a shot and leaving us some constructive feedback. Balancing was something we tried doing later in the process but as you mentioned a few more settings for difficulty would make a big difference for the better.
