You made a game like this in GZDoom? You absolute madman.
I think it's pretty neat. I like the art style, very Mega Man Legends-equse. It's kinda difficult, but I had fun though. I think you need a tutorial or something for the controls, I did not realise that you could repair the craft or that there was charge shot until I checked the controls on a whim. As for things you could add, maybe some additional weapons? Limited use bonus stuff you can pick up perhaps?
I hope you keep working on this, it's pretty cool.
The game looks excellent and plays pretty well. I managed to beat the demo, then I found out that dash exists, and replayed it with dash, but I didn't find it that useful. I hoped it would help to deal with torpedoes and rockets, but unless there's an obstacle nearby that you manage to get them to collide with, they'll catch up with you eventually, and it seems like they never run out of fuel. It gets especially egregious in the infinite survival where the enemies spam them at you.
And your own torpedoes are not very effective, especially considering how rare they are.
The dash is one of your most important tools, to the point that it may be borderline broken. First of all, your turn rate depends on your speed, and thus dash allows you to do extremely sharp turns. More importantly, however, it has i-frames on it, shown by force-field effect - you don't need to shake off torpedoes and missiles, you can just plow right through them if you time your dash correctly. And while enemy homing projectiles do have infinite fuel, their guidance system runs out of juice after 10 seconds and they stop tracking you.
I'm going to rebalance player torpedoes in the next update, albeit I'm not sure how. Either a bigger splash damage, or maybe launching two or three torpedoes at once.
Just want to say this game was a gorgeous, the fact it's in GZdoom is pretty sweet aswell, had a little trouble telling when my RMB attacks were ready to go, so maybe a little UI polish on that end. Add a sunny soundtrack and you'd have a gem!
