I recorded playing games with commentary, and your game is one of them.

Here's the link to the whole DD50 folder:

I look forward to future demos. Thanks for the linux build

Art looks good so far, I'd say it's a good start. Dash seems mostly useless, though, but maybe with some invincible frames and animations it could be good.

Cute art. The footstep sounds being panned based on your position relative to the center of your current screen is a bit strange I think. Footstep sounds could also potentially get annoying for some - I personally don't mind them at all.

The sound and art for the potion explosions are excellent. I cheesed the last enemy by standing in the upper left and throwing potions while double jumping.

Short (so far) and sweet, I'd play the full game. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you've got in store.

Did I play the latest build? Everyone is talking about a crafting UI but I just ran around and threw potions for like 5 levels and beat the game.

Developer

The crafting menu is in the pause menu (Esc) but it doesn't really do anything yet. You can just pick between 3 potions with different animations for the explosion. Thanks for playing.

The player feels great to control. The crafting UI is a bit confusing but that might be because it hasn't been explained or implemented yet.  The levels currently available are too uniformly densely packed. Mouse aim would be good to have even if it just maps discretely to a digital directional input.

This game is a blast. Running around and throwing stuff is wonderful. The feedback you get from it is spectacular – the explosions, the pots and enemies shattering… it’s just great.

Very charming. Love the lil toad and the way the wizard hops like a toad.

  • The alchemy menu doesn't scale properly to 16:10.
  • Something feels off about the bats' attack animation. I think charging and attacking should use different sprites.
  • Going from using the arrow keys during normal gameplay to having to use the mouse for the alchemy menu feels awkward. Either make the menu keyboard navigable or allow mouse aim.
