I played this for like an hour and a half. My biggest problem was that, whenever a new menu popped up, I’d have to wait until the fade-in animation finished (and then seemingly an extra 2-3 seconds) before I could click on “okay” or “close” or whatever.

Music was nice. Main menu is comfy. Gameplay is interesting enough for a mobile game.

I’ll be looking forward to this on the next demo day.

Developer

Wow, thank you for the thorough play through! I'll see what I can do about speeding up menu transitions.

Developer

Apparently music wasn't playing either. Fixed.

  • Maybe find a way to equip gear more quickly. It´s quite tedious to equip, unequip or compare it.
  • I think it´s odd that the enemy sprites have way fewer pixels than the background and pretty much everything else
  • Battle is quite slow, at least for being the first enemy. I also kinda wish there would be more options in battle, like in classical turn-based rpgs with regular attacks, skills, items and whatnot.
  • Found gold chain... what does it do? Maybe add a tap-hold action on the item that shows me what it does.
  • Fought an mandrake again, leveled up and attempted to go to the next battle (continue) ended up with "Runtime Error. C:\apocalypse\Game\combat.lua:151: attempt to concatenate field 'name' (a nil value)

I do like rpgs though, it has potential.

thanks for checking it out. i just uploaded the fix for the crash. as far as more battle options, you unlock a new skill slot every time you level up and it mixes things up a lot in terms of stuff to do in combat. i'll admit level 1 is kinda boring. i'll add a way to examine loot you get in battle as well, and look for ways to speed up combat.

Played this in LDPlayer. It crashed though. Sorry man, I tried.

Developer

Hey, that was my bad. I made some changes and didn't test before uploading. It should be fixed now.

Hey it runs! Let's go.

- That's a lot of gear slots...

- This combat is painfully slow. IMO look into vastly speeding up the wait times. No wait time at all after the animation plays would be preferred.

- The first fight with Sentient Sludge lasted about 2 minutes and almost killed me. Whew.

- I got into a second fight but I can't do it..

If you speed the everloving crap out of the game up, I feel like it'd be really fun, but right now it's needlessly slow. Nice progress either way! This could be really cool once you fix the game speed!

i hear you about the speed, i'll see what i can do to make things quicker!
