Interesting experiment, but not a fun experience yet.
The music gets a bit too glitchy to the point of hurting, even tho the music itself is a good match to the vibe.
Having attack values is the biggest minus i would say. Hide them so players would actually read the cards and figure out how to win. But I guess this way it's beyond the jam limitation.
So as a vibe-filled experience of a game it kinda fails because shows how it works way too soon.
Oh, and you can let people construct the deck before the run. This way they'll have more agency and they'll be able to role-play!
Tried the game, it’s nice all the cards have a piece of the game lore. I really want to know my deck and using it though, you can add risk and reward mechanics, like cards with some effects or skills that can affect the RNG.
Graphics is well done, music is on point.
I will suggest to remove the unskippable cutscene and making it skippable for who is interested only on the gameplay.
GG!
Nice graphics and story telling, i had fun reading that.
as far as design goes, it was also pretty nice but it feels like a clicker game that u don't really control anything, u just click on draw and hope for the best, i had 12 tries and couldn't pass the first enemy :( i know I'm a jinx, but still.
good job overall, it does meet the random + just two themes to the point :)
The story/world idea is interesting, but the lack of agency is rough...
Having a slight control over cards would be great, it feels to dependent on pure random right now.
Nevertheless, good job on finishing the jam!
The game aesthetically is nice, but the gameplay is not really enjoyable since you are completely out of control of what happens. Perhaps instead of give both the player and the opponent a set amount of cards to last up to three rounds and each player chooses what card to put down and the higher number wins. (Sort of like the game war). And possibly remove those cards from future rounds. If you do add onto it in the future you have to follow that, but giving the player some control over the outcome I think is important.
The aesthetic of this game is really cool!
I liked the little descriptions on the cards - if you expand on this project, it could make for great worldbuilding. However, I think you took the randomness a little too far to the point where the player has absolutely no control over the outcome. It doesn't feel that much like a game, but then again, it's a proof of concept, so it's a solid start.
This has a lot of potential and you should keep on working on it!
