  • A worthy effort for 7 days.

I was particularly impressed by the world generation - it feels good. The graphics is functional enough to work.

The combat was unfortunately not very interesting, and I couldn't pick what I could do to improve my standing other then hire more people. The choice to make attacks go both attack/defence made it tough to be able to play strategically.

The combination of lets rob pirates, and sell their stuff is good. It's a bit tough to tell what benefit I'm getting though; I don't know if I've got cargo space left, as for me to keep fighting.

Overall, it does feel like it needs a little polish.

Well done on completing the challenge with something a bit different.

Successful or Incomplete?

The map wouldn't load for me. I included it in my 7DRL Challenge compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

After selecting “New game” I just see a tiny grey sprite with green outline and nothing happens. There is no reaction to input.

Well, obviously I can't duplicate that ... it should be drawing an area of terrain around you and following the mouse cursor with a small hexagon? The mouse wheel should zoom in and out... Ugh... I'll poke around but I'm at a bit of a loss really. Sorry!

Here's a screenshot, hope it helps you: http://prntscr.com/iqym15

Good luck!

Well, it's approximately what I would expect to see if the DLL that contains the actual game logic didn't load.  It does load for me.  Possible reasons it might not:

  • A security feature of your OS (I'm on windows 7).
  • An anti virus that protects you from downloaded DLLs but not from downloaded executables.
  • Leaving everything in the zip file and windows refusing to load a DLL out of the zip.
