How did you choose to implement the Theme: Picking Up The Pieces in your game?
The main character has to pick up the pieces of something from her past in order to move on with her life. Also, she has lost some of her memories, so recovering them feels like picking up the pieces of her lost past.

Did you implement any of the optional Bonus Challenges, and if so, which ones?
Make it whole again (the player has to collect the pieces of something broken and put it back together)
Ruins of teh Old World: the game takes place in a ruined summer camp

A great submission to the game jam! Is it your first game made in RPG Maker?

The presentation is really good! Most of the assets appear to be from asset packs or RTP, but they are edited in such a way that it gives the game a unique vibe. Except the river shore tiles, those need work, but you don't really see them for long anyway.

Great work in this regard!

For the gameplay, this is where it had some issues. You could outrun the enemy and leave them on the other side of the screen, but as soon as you went inside a building they would be right at your heels. Also a few times the enemy spawned 3 tiles away from me, which was annoying. Also, the part after you read the diary a go outside, the enemy would always spawn at the exit and run towards you as you walked down the stairs, so you'd likely run right into them even if you knew they were gonna spawn. It took me 5 times before I managed to dodge them.

Still, it's not a bad system, it just needs refinement.

Some of the puzzles in the second part of the game also felt a bit too vague on what you are actually supposed to be doing and what the end goal is, the labyrinth chase at the end in particular.

Sound-wise, it was pretty good. With the exception of the final scream sound during the game over (when the screen turns red). That one should be replaced and it doesn't help that you'll be hearing it over and over again.

Regarding the game over animation, it should really be skippable. Also, it would be better if atleast the regular ghosts and the main antagonist caused different game over animations.

I was pleasantly surprised how long it was, thought it was gonna end after you get all the pieces of the stone. It definitely felt like it was just the right length for a game like this. The beginning dragged on a bit though, I feel like it took too long before you actually got to see an enemy for the first time.

Anyway, great game!

Wow, that feedbak was amazing! Thank you so much!

This isn't my first game made in RPG Maker; I've made games with Rpg Maker 2003, MV and MZ (I also use Pixel Game Maker MV, from the maker family).

I actually planned to improve the river shore tiles, but I totally forgot hahah. I used a DLC asset pack, Pop Horror, and then I created a limited color palette in order to make the assets more distinct. I'm glad it worked!

The gameplay definitely needs improvement. I see most players have trouble with that one enemy that spawns right before you exit the main cabin, and it certainly is quite unfair and unexpected.

Yes, some of the puzzles are a bit too vague. I usually have a lot of trouble coming up with puzzles and I tend to forget to give more hints or make them less vague. I hope I can improve this in the future.

Regarding the death animation/game over, I actually wanted to make different unique animations for each type of death, but my free time was limited due to work and I wasn't able to do it. And I guess I should have added an option to skip it, since it can be quite annoying later on.

Thanks again for playing and for your amazing feedback! This certainly will help me with my future projects!
