I really like this game, in particular I appreciate the many small details, such as that the easter bunny's ears change positions whenever he goes through a doorway that's too low for them to fit in a standing position.

SPOILERS

I do really like this the game, it's certainly well made for something created in 24 hours. You really nailed the atmosphere, especially during the part where you are in the bathroom stall and hear the footsteps outside. Overall, it's a nice and short horror experience.

For the things that could be improved, the most obvious one is the dialogue. There's not much of it there, but a lot of it is misspelled or just strangely phrased. For example, after you use the urinal, you get a message of "I need to bathroom." and it's not immediately obvious that you have to open one of the bathroom stalls, get inside and interact with the toilet. Thankfully, the whole game takes place in just one room, so it doesn't take long to try every interactable object. But you should keep this in mind if you ever make a game that takes place in a larger area than just one room.

And after you lock the bathroom stall and interact with the toilet, the game doesn't have any direction as to what you should do next and you just walk around the stall, trying everything, until the next scene triggers. So, after you interact with the toilet, it would be a good idea to add one more line from the protagonist that hints towards that. Something like "I should wait here until that costumed freak leaves. I don't trust him." or similar. Just to make it obvious to the player that they aren't missing anything and just have to wait.

The ending is also a bit of a mixed bag. The lead-up to it is great, but it just ends with a 2D picture plastered on the screen with the 3D environment around it still visible and that just feels cheap and more like a placeholder (which is probably what it is, given that the game was made in just a day).

It would be much better if we could see the Bunny Costume Guy break inside the bathroom stall or even just suddenly appear inside the stall, behind the protagonist, lunge towards them and then it fades to black with a scream or something.

I really like the game overall though, keep making games like these, you seem to have a talent for them!

I think this is a very solid concept and the graphical style in particular is very interesting and makes the game have a very unique vibe. There's only two things I have thoughts on that could be improved.

For the first one, the text in the intro was a bit hard to read due to the font used. It's important to maintain a good level of readability for the text, especially one in the intro that explains the story.

For the second one, I think that the game would benefit from more 'direction' at the start. Maybe just have a letter/note on the desk the player can read that explains to them the basics of the game with some more concrete story attached right out of the gate. I think it would help prevent people giving up on the game before they figure out the basic gameplay loop and get to the interesting parts.

Still, great job with this game overall!

Hi. After checking some other sites, we began to suspect that your game has been in development for a long time, even before the game jam has started. The rules allow participants to reuse some basic code and create game assets in advance, such as character models, sprites and music, largely to encourage people to make their own rather than just using pre-made assets as they are. But the actual game development process has to take place during the game jam's submission period, or at least he bulk of it has to happen during it.

Were this the only thing, we'd likely give you the opportunity to explain this. However, the game itself also has nothing to do with the theme of the game jam, which the rules specify is required. The theme was Easter Horror and your game doesn't seem to have anything to do with the holiday of Easter, even remotely. We've received reports from other participants pointing this out and don't think it would be fair to others to keep your game in the jam regardless.

The game itself was also submitted to another game jam ran by us that started just a day before you've submitted the game to said jam as well. The rules for that one are almost identical to this jam's rules and we seriously doubt that you've managed to develop that whole game in just a day, when you were already supposedly working on the game more than a month ago. As such, your game was removed from both game jams.

It might have been just a mistake or a misunderstanding of the rules. Regardless, even though we had to remove your game from this game jam, we wish you the best of luck with it!

Hi there, it seems that there's something wrong with your game and it just won't start, as others have already said. Please fix this issue, otherwise we will have to remove your game from the jam, which we would rather avoid doing.

It's alright, the game can stay in the jam, good luck with your future games!

This one has potential, but feels more like a proof of concept than a finished product. Understandable, with it being developed under such a short time-frame. The sudden transitions were particularly jarring, I think those needed work to have them feel smoother.

For example, at one point, you are about to check what's outside, but as soon as you come close to the door, you are suddenly transported to the woods outside the cabin, face-to-face with some NPC you never saw before. A better way to do this would be to just have the player step out of the cabin, see the NPC in the woods in the distance, have them call for help or something and then it would be up to the player to walk all the way over to them.

Also, make sure to proofread any text you put into the game, as there were quite a lot of typos. If you want to work on this further, than I think this game concept has potential to be a fun, B-Movie style horror game or even an outright horror comedy.

Still, congratulations for making this game during such a short timeframe! Hope you've learned a lot while making this project and I hope you'll continue to improve!

I think there's potential here for a good game, the opening section certainly did have good atmosphere, with the misty forest and you coming across the dead bodies, the security cameras on the trees seemingly watching your every move etc. But once the killer shows up, it just takes him to spot you one time to trigger a chase, and it seems to be almost impossible to shake him off your trail. I've managed to do it only once and I still can't tell how (with the chase restarting soon after anyway).

The easter eggs are fine to collect, but collecting the notes is very difficult while being chased, as you seem to need to align the camera at a specific angle and be at a specific distance to even get the interact prompt. And time doesn't pause while you are reading a note, so not something you can really afford to do while being chased.

There's also a friendly NPC next to some building that you can talk to. It seems like you are meant to come across her during the opening section of the game, but she is still there even after the killer shows up. And talking to her doesn't stop time and if you talk to her while running from the killer, you just get stuck in the dialogue while running forward uncontrollably. It would be for the best to make it so you either can't talk to her while chased or just have her disappear once the killer shows up.

I also discovered that you can just walk on the water surrounding the island, which I doubt is intended. The killer can even chase you there, all the way to the edge of the map.

Overall, these are just the signs of an unfinished, work-in-progress game, which is absolutely fine for a test jam project. There are certainly good ideas here and the overall graphical style and sound design are fine. The game just needs more polish overall. Keep making games and I'm sure your next ones will be much better!

My favorite game so far and you implemented the theme perfectly, great job!

So, just to let you know, we've turned on the Rating Queue in the future jams, which should somewhat help divide ratings more equally between the jam games.

8 days.

If you are using RPG Maker MV or MZ and want to include a Browser version of your game (which will ensure more people will play it), here's a quick guide on how to do that:

1) When you are deploying the game, choose the Web Browsers platform.

2) Locate your deployed game folder and once you have everything you need inside it, compress the folder into a .zip format (by default on Windows, you can right-click the folder, select Send to and choose Compressed (zipped) folder).

3) Create a Project page on itch.io or edit an existing one. Under Kind of Project, choose HTML (you will still be able to add downloadable versions for other platforms like Windows, so don't worry).

4) Upload the zipped folder of your deployed game to your Project page on itch.io.

5) Mark "This file will be played in a browser" for the uploaded .zip game folder.

6) Scroll down to "Embed options", under "Viewport dimension", enter the resolution of your game. The default resolution for both RPG Maker MV and MZ games is Width: 816 and Height: 624

7) Under Frame Options, mark whatever options you think will be useful for your game.

8) Save the changes, then go to your project page. Click Run Game. This will configure the Browser version of the game for the first time and make it playable. After some time, the game should load and from now on, it should be playable in browser.

If you don't manage to submit your project to the game jam before the submission period ends, you can post a link to your game in this thread and I will give you a late submission link that will allow you to submit the game anyway.

You have time to do so until the rating period has ended.

The game jam started a few hours ago, but there's still more than enough time to join and make a game for it!

This game jam has just started! There's still more than enough time to join and participate in the jam if you want!

From the rules section on the jam page:

4) You CAN use custom assets, but they should be mostly supplemental to the overall game or limited to certain scenes. This is mostly meant for tilesets and character sprites, custom music and sound effects can be used without any limitations.

So yes, this would be fine. Good luck with your game!

You can ignore the bonus challenges and add your own elements, if you wish.
