Pretty cool entry. Art style is really cool and the music is on point. Sound design is great too.
Such a nice game, I liked it a lot! Simple and entertaining gameplay, with some cute pixel art and good sound design. Well done!
Truely an amazing game! I love poems, you already caught me there and successfully reeled me in with that simple but addictively amazing gameplay! nice art, nice sounds, one of the best games I played in this jam! :D
One of my favourite games from this Jam!
The art, music, poems and gameplay all came together and made a "simple" game with plenty of depth and variety.
As other comments have suggested I think a bit more player agency between upgrades would improve it.
The game has a very cool concept of survival.
It has a simple but consistent use with the game jam theme, which was interesting.
The music is great, it combines very well with the shooting show as you advance. (Initially I played without headphones on and so had a big scare at the climax of the first song, but it's great xD)
The sound effects are also great and don't disturb the rhythm of the music.
The later levels was a good variety, even bringing simple changes was really cool.
I just found the power ups without much variety, the game has much greater potential to show, a great combination of new powers will bring a good replay concept to the game.
In the end it was a great game, I hope everyone keeps working well.
Thank you for the feedback.
Very fun game! I like that it is very hard. Haven't played anything like this
This game is super fun! Love that it's theoretically endless? The music is really easy to listen to, and I feel like this would be perfect for a mobile release at a low price with some bugfixes / extra content!
The cover art / art in general is also super charming!
The aiming feels a little strange though, not sure what it was doing but it was fun regardless!
I've never played a game like this and I'm really glad I came across it during the game jam, I will definitely be replaying this in the future. The overall vibe/style encompassing music/dialogue/art/effects/etc. were all fantastic and memorable. I think 1 or 2 additional actions that the player could perform during the course of a round would round out the level of engagement for that section.
I had a lot of fun playing it, it was really cool but really tough. One thing bugged me the entire time though, I don't really see a point in aiming? It seems like it moves your troops around but that's really it, which makes the gameplay a bit tedious. If you could, for example, shoot a powerful projectile from time to time, it would really add variation. Or if maybe you could aim where your mages will shoot. A change like that would really add a bit of diversity, which I think is what the game lacked the most. I had fun picking the upgrades though, the key was getting a really strong barrier of soldiers so that the inner troops weren't taken out. And the music was very good, very enjoyable. The poems as well were delightful. The art got me divided, during gameplay it looks good but the cutscenes were very squiggly and didn't fit in with the rest of the game. It wasn't really a big deal however. Liked how you did the theme too, pretty cool idea.
Composer here. Thanks for the feedback. Slight correction: The mages do respond to where you're aiming, although their reaction time is a little slow so the projectiles may end up going in a direction completely different to where your cursor actually is. I do know what you mean though. It could definitely be improved.
"And the music was very good, very enjoyable." - As the man behind most of the OST for the game, I greatly appreciate this comment.
Ah I see
I'm impressed at how original this game felt; it really seemed to have a strong identity and style. I felt like the one thing it was missing was some more player interaction between buying upgrades; I couldn't work out exactly what the aiming was supposed to do, but with a more satisfying action there this would have been a very strong game. The audio fit very well too; great work!
