So, I've been meaning to put down an actual rating for this game, and what I have to say is this... without a doubt, this is one of the best, if not the best "maker" engines that exist. It is unfortunate there isn't something like this for Pachinko, which interestingly enough, you can modify your own pinball "machine" in this to essentially be Pachinko (to a degree).
All and all, much of the beauty of this game, is the fact that the music is great, the visuals are remarkable, and the gameplay is smooth. Games like these, are quite rare to come across. There aren't many "maker" or "level editor" type games these days, where people can CONTINUE the progress of the developers. Time and time again, we find ourselves enjoying something only for a limited experience, either it being limited by being forced to exist in one place and nowhere else, or to exist in a limited time span.
Fortunately, Tacker (one of the devs) ported this to being a windows/linux/mac application, so now people can enjoy it a bit more conveniently offline (without having to install the itch.io app).
If I had to offer any kind of criticism or advice regarding this game, then I would offer the following:
1) Allow the exporting of levels, rather than a level "code" that has to be posted on here. I think a lot of people would rather just have a forum or a discord specifically for sharing levels through .lvl files or something.
2) Allow people to build their own completely unique pinball machines with custom assets. Don't get me wrong, what we have now is absolutely fantastic, but I do believe, this "engine" of sorts, would be far better with ways to import content, rather than "draw" it. Cause lets be honest, not all of us are artists, and some of us have big ideas for what we would like to make, but making it by hand, either would take too long, or produce not as enjoyable results.
Other than that, there isn't much to say about this. Its without a doubt, one of the best pinball games on here and pinball makers in general, since well... there really aren't any. There is in fact, one other game on here that allows you to make your own pinball, but its done in such a bizarre manner, it just feels weird. It has some kind of obnoxious in-game money system and you have to sit around and wait for enough cash to "buy" in-game parts for your pinball machine.
So yeah, fantastic work. I do hope that this doesn't get forgotten and that perhaps the devs will look into working on it some more. Maybe doing some kind of competition or a multiplayer mode or something. There is so much potential here for something more that can be done with this, after all, if you can build your own pinball machine, what's stopping you from building other types of machines with this. You could essentially, with enough time and patience, build things like Pachinko and Plinko, you could build a racing track on this, and so much more.
I've fiddled with this quite a bit a decent while ago, and realized that if there was a faster way to create and share the stuff I do, then I would be more inclined to keep making things for it. For that reason, I think I'm going to try and make some very unique levels/machines for this, perhaps ones that cater to specific kind of people.
