Okay I have to confess, I'm not a big fan of this type of game. This kind of extremely horny anime visual novel makes me extremely uncomfortable, my friends basically had to drag me kicking and screaming through the first half of DDLC. So, any suggestions I have are coming from someone who this game wasn't really meant for, so while it may be useful if you want to expand its potential audience, take it for what it's worth.
Her art is cute, if something I'd be embarrassed to be caught looking at, and the writing is sweet. The characters are written well enough and the voice acting is a nice touch (the sound quality leaves a bit to be desired, but it's probably about as good as it can get without spending a fair amount of money on it). The premise is a tiny bit contrived, but it's not really a problem since again, it's really just an excuse to put two characters together in a situation with some tension (and not just sexual tension). The main issue I have though is the gameplay, there's pretty much one singular choice to make and it's my least favorite kind of riddle: the kind where you have no hope of solving it if you haven't heard it before. See, even if you figure out the answer you have no way of guessing what the exact wording is for the quote on the ring. I'd heard that riddle before, so I got it, but there's a million equivalent phrases ("life is finite", "everything ends", "things wont stay like this", etc) that carry the same meaning but aren't the correct answer.
Overall: impressive work for a game jam but you can definitely tell it's a game jam game.
PS I just thought of this while writing this: dude what if it's
revealed down the line that HE was the one who kidnapped her, recorded
the video in a mask, and set up the whole situation so that she would
feel an engineered closeness to him and he would get to look impressive.
Man that could
actually be a really cool psychological horror thriller. Like slowly
drop hints that maybe your character knows more than he lets on or isn't
the nicest person, shows some manipulative tendencies and the player
feels further and further disconnected from the character until it's
revealed that you're actually playing as the villain. Idk that'd be
really cool, it wouldn't fit the tone of the story it seems like you're
trying to tell but it'd be a sick subversion if you end up going that
way. OR there is no man who kidnapped you both and she was lying, she
actually kidnapped you and set up this situation for you to shine and
seem impressive while being close to her, giving you your little hero
fantasy while subconsciously manipulating you to fall for her, looks
nice and cheerful but is actually a total psychopath whenever she's not
with you. Idk, again I'm not the intended audience for this but, much
like DDLC, that would be a really fun subversion.
