A downloadable game.
I have mixed feelings about this game. It looks beautiful, the music is adequate, and there are a variety of stages. I wanted to like it. However, there are many cons, some of which comes down to my preferences, I suppose, but still:
- Maybe it's my fault, but I expected something more than a Space Invaders clone. It might have been because of the screenshot with Amy which gave me the impression of a more story-based game, such as Tyrian
- The difficulty is aggrevating. On levels 25+, there is no pattern to learn, and death comes at random. The bees can fire irrespective of which direction they face, so there is no indication whatsoever of their actions.
- Amy is a huge missed opportunity. She has about 3 lines in the whole game. Instead, it could have bee-n use to provide some kind of story, or a sense of progress to the player.
- For someone playing on Vice with a keyboard (e.g. without autofire), the game becomes a button mashing contest.
- The price. $5 for such a game (and a single disk image) is a bit too much. E.g. Soulless, also a complete game is only $3; Knight'n'Grail is also $5, but it comes with a map and a soundtrack. This kind of game (where most of the levels only differ in 2-3 numbers, such as "aggressiveness", "toughness", "has_shields") would be fine at the $2-3 price point, but it is painful at $5.
