A work still early in development, Distant Travels follows a somewhat predictable "I find myself surrounded by hot furry men who are all secretly into me", and layers that with science fiction world building.  The excursion into sci-fi is a welcome effort to make the fantasy world as interesting as its characters.  Mixing sci-fi and fantasy is difficult, but so far the added verbiage and scientific justification seems to be paying off instead of just adding bulk to the story.  Uncompleted projects can be frustrating, but this one appears to be actively worked on with real updates that move the story along each month.

It's very early in the project, so perhaps critique is premature, but thus far the characters seem a bit trapped in their cliches.  For example, Mike plays the archetypal role of the stoic, brawny bear who is strong on the outside but emotionally vulnerable and afraid his affections for you on the inside.  It's unfair to judge a character this early, I'm merely pointing out that it would be a shame if the characters stick too closely to well-tread paths.
