It's a simple concept: go through archives exploring a real world CIA conspiracy and connecting documents with string. A Conspiracy Board Simulator.
If you like mysteries, and circling around a core question while filling in the blanks around it, piecing together details from names and dates, and the simple act of research, you'll love it. Coincidentally that is super up my alley. And the vague feeling for most of the game that you're being watched, about to turn a corner and face a silenced pistol only adds to that joy, created some minor tension.
My only complaints are it feels at times pretty linear and easy. There was never a moment I had no leads left and needed to really sit and think over what I was missing. The card catalog system of Location/Name/Year is a really fun way to explore the game, but also incentivizes only really pulling that kind of information out of any box of articles. You never seem to need to look at the dates and locations in comparison to piece a narrative to find the next box number. But that is wholly subjective; perhaps others will find it harder, others easier.
As well I love the inclusion of returning to find any boxes you've missed...but I have no way of knowing if I even missed anything of note. I think by the end the mystery was solved. The only detail missing is one I didn't expect would ever be made explicit and had a working theory since the beginning. Its hard to tell which gaps are because I missed information and which are simply intentional to force you to fill your own blanks.
All that being said I absolutely loved this game and part of me wishes I could experience it fresh all over again!
