I went in with the goal of winning. I harassed the townsfolk advice button so I could do everything "correctly". I wanted to color within the lines, and create a masterpiece. I was upset with the lack of a fill tool, with the inability to Undo. Paint Game isn't about any of these things, and as I spent more time in Paint Town, the more I fell in love with it.
Paint Game is, at its core, a 3D coloring book. You only get as much out of it as you put into it. You wander around and may paint things as you see fit, while calming music plays in the background. It's fun, it's cute, it takes me back to the days where I could mess around with crayons and not feel ashamed for making anything less than perfection. The lack of a Fill and Undo tools play to the game's strengths, rather than being a weakness. You must allow yourself to be okay with coloring outside of the lines, with making a mistake, because it doesn't matter. You're coloring to make yourself happy, not for points or achievements or levels.
