Aetheru rated fallen devotion (demo)

Aetheru rated a game 30 days ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

I downloaded this because I saw the art and said "wow this is totally my cup of tea!" And well.. it's so and so. Obviously, this is a demo so I wasn't expecting anything close to a complete story but, I just feel like the story is all over the place? Like, for example Silas and Mia (the two antagonists from what the game is building them up to be) are.. just there. They get dumped on the player, we know nothing of them and they seem flat? But, I don't think they're the main issue with the story. This isn't a finished product so I don't expect to know their motives for what they did right now. The actual issue here is the MC. The whole haunted thing is executed in a strange way. Sure, we know the MC and Clyde have been friends since they were kids, but other than the info dump, how am I supposed to get attached to him?? Other than that, the MC behaves strangely throughout all of this. Everything is too abrupt and it all feels like it's trying to put down so much info that feels like it's useless because I, as a player, don't have a connection to it and just get bored while playing it because it feels like a big info dump and the dialogue through all of this is almost mechanic. I think it's trying to do too much without focusing on the real main points. But, it's just a demo for now and the art style is amazing, so I'll still keep an eye out for this one and see how the story develops. I'm not trying to insult, just genuinely sharing my opinion and thoughts on this as a fellow writer that loves visual novels!
