nullbyday rated TADC Mind Games

A browser game made in HTML5.

First of all, I wanted to say how hollow and dissatisfying the game was.

Because I spent so little time being in the circus and arrived at the worst moment, I didn't get the chance to explore much of my surroundings nor even backed out when my character ventured deep. Like- no. I don't wanna crawl through the dirty vent and knowing Caine would come back. I'm here to understand the room a little bit, then come back somewhere in the future. Not commit to the bit!

Also, why did the demo reveal locked options if I can't unlock them in the next run? Why dangle them if it's not done yet? It was frustrating to me when I literally had no choice but to follow Pomni and Kinger, but the game presented a "choice" that I would have had. It might as well guided me to help them immediately without the options and I would've been fine with it.

And finally, the trapped scene. The sequence of event sometimes mattered, but most of them felt same-ish when Pomni was destined to get zombified. My best bet was with Kinger despite Pomni had an important key to unlock doors and such.

Even after escaping the room, the game ended the adventure by all of us getting lost in the endless stairs that led to nowhere. I said to myself, "That can't be it? Surely there's a cliffhanger scene where me, Pomni, and Kinger escaped to a new room which I learned the situation better, or at the very least, get to know them better."

But it didn't. Every path I took led to dead ends after dead ends. It wore me down as I witnessed nothing I do will get me to progress the story. Just dead ends.

Even if the path I took was destined to end quickly, it made me hate the game for not delivering the stake of the situation, not giving me chances to talk with the characters before being thrown into the next danger, blocking every choices I would have because it's predetermined. Does it even matter what I do in the situation?

I know this sounds harsh, especially when it's a passion project made by fans of the show, but if what you're giving me just cool animations and stunning visuals, then I'm not interested in it. Again, if there were more scenes of me talking to Pomni and Kinger after battling the vine monsters and some places to explore before the game cut abruptly at the enticing incident, then I would be curious for their journey.

But right now, I don't wanna play this game anymore after exhausting every line I could find. I hope the team would expand on the story and choices to get the meat of it. I have no doubt the visuals will look spectacular in the final product.
