I feel like throwing up. I wish I could say I can't understand how gender affirming care esp for trans women is still requiring so much violation of one's privacy, identity, bodily autonomy and also so much upkeeping and aftercare in a more medical sense, but I do understand completely and the answer is Transmisogyny. Personally transmasculine person I felt the misogyny pervading the healthcare industry my whole life, the lack of studies and support towards anyone woman-adjacent is abhorrent on its own and it's scarring, but when you add the dehumanization towards trans women and the constant denial of their identity as women and the demanding of proof of their suffering, their feelings, their preferences, their diagnosis matching whatever fits the criteria to get gender affirming surgeries...some doctors should have their license revoked and we should push harder for better healthcare for trans women that does not feel like a violation on every other level. This made me angry and sick and I think we need more trans people portraying their experiences through media like this.
