2mOlaf rated HATCH

2mOlaf rated a game 5 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

This one was interesting, but only for a little while. The art was really nice up front, but most of the game is played out on a rock and the textures and scenery become too monotonous. Largely, it was just difficult to understand what you were looking at, which direction you were facing, or whether you were able to "climb" or slide. The controls were very smooth and responsive, so it made climbing much easier because of it. There isn't a lot to the story, but perhaps it's not the intention. The sounds are very pleasant. Ambient tones that don't get tiring after even an hour+ session of playing. The mechanics were probably my least favorite. Since it *is* a climbing game, I really wish there were times or features to pull the camera back and see my character doing its thing. That would've helped to understand the geometry you were attached to and made the game more satisfying from a "wow" factor.
