Cosmic_fogh0rN rated The Nature of Magic

A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Not a bad game, but it is not good either. The first 3 hours of the game (at the very least) is just a massive, seemingly never-ending exposition dump. I am SO bored. I don't know if I will be able to make it to the end honestly. The other issue is thematic consistency. Every name in the game has some outlandish celtic syntax to it tthat is impossible to pronounce without instruction or experience, so much so the Dev has to add pronunciation to the game. The problem is NOTHING else in the game is like this. Imagine living in another country that uses a different language, and everyone has a name in that language, but literally everything else in the country is just whatever your language is. This is incredible jarring and just makes the Dev seem pretentious. It doesn't help that none of the names even remotely sound like the way they are spelled, but then you get these super terrible short-form names that do not sound good whatsoever. Orlaith sounds like Orla and shortened is Orl? All of this is complete garbage and bad, inconsistent design choices. Nothing is cohesive. I'm not sure if this is the first time making a game for the dev or possibly the first time writing something, but they do neither thing well. I'm hoping it picks up the pace a bit and SHOWS me what is happening instead of TELLING me what is happening, but I'm only going to give it another hour before I call it quits and move on.
