One of the first trifold games I found on Itchio.
Hyper-dense and mega-sharp. CBR + PNK feels deliberately designed to leave no questions unanswered with just the right amount of meat on strong bones to let you play out one explosive session of suicidal espionage, corporate warfare and cyberpunk action.
Unlike other Forged in the Dark games, CBR + PNK embraces the downward spiral of a job gone wrong. Because the game ends in one session, CBR + PNK encourages players to keep playing with the worst of odds - mounting stress and harm, dwindling resources and threats hounding at your ankles. This RPG is at its best when you play a little more recklessly without letting go of the throttle.
Having run and played a couple sessions, the only unusual element is Take A Breather. Unlike the rest of CBR + PNK, the special action puts a pause on all the action to pull back on the momentum you built. This is addressed slightly by allowing it only once per run. But it feels like compensation for players who die too quickly. Personally, I would deliberately treat it the same as a regular action roll. So resting on a job of this magnitude can actually cost you.
