spectercrums rated Tales From the Underworld: Promise to Water the Flowers in my Apartment

A downloadable game.

This was honestly a really wonderful experience to read through. The art, character designs, and the UI layout are all absolutely gorgeous, the characters are all fun and distinct from one another, and the inclusion of Filipino cuisine as an incorporation of your own cultural heritage is honestly a really wonderful addition, especially subverting the expectation that a fancy dinner date usually involves specifically western cuisine (French/Italian), which alongside the direct mention of colonialists and the loss of community, Dimlight's not just replicating generic western urban fantasy but also comes from  your own understanding of your history and culture, which I think is great honestly, we need more of that kind of art in the world.

I do have some pointers though, the black UI is very stylish but for most of the game, it blends in with the background/scenery since the game mostly takes place at night. I also felt the exposition near the beginning and end felt a little long, especially without any change in the CGs, I felt the VN really started to pick up speed during Sebastian in his mortal form facing down the gluttony demon and I wonder if the VN could have started there sooner somehow? The portion in Limbo where Gavin spent 15 years also felt long before the party because the words have to do most of the work while we look at Limbo's white background.

Do take this with a grain of salt though because the highs definitely outweigh the lows by alot, and this took an amount of work I could only dream of attempting. Waiting patiently to see what else you'll make!
