A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
I loved this prototype a lot, and I see a lot of potential for a full game. I love the requests, the paper reports about our creations, the different customers and the overall flow of the gameplay. The music is calming and adds a lot to the environment, the graphics are really nice and I played the whole protype without stopping because I was just in a really great mood while playing.
But you did ask for critiques so here we go!
- The pattern pieces should move onto the fabric on the bias from the start, leaving the player to adjust them after. Really annoying to have to flip every pattern piece by 180 degrees.
- The game should give an estimate of how much fabric a design will take, which will allow for better resource management and give the player a chance to change a design to use less fabric.
- The sewing is the worst part of the game by far, something in there needs to be fixed to make it less tedious and hard to control. My attempt at a solution would be guide the fabric with WASD and hold down L Mouse to push the fabric. Also, I think it would be nice if it showed which two pieces you were sewing together at the sewing machine rather than just a seam on one piece.
- You should be able to view your draft sketch from the cutting table, it's annoying to go back and forth to make sure I'm cutting the right piece out of the right fabric.
- The pencil is tedious to use and should include the patterned fabrics to truly be able to visualize what you're designing.
- You cannot recut pieces without redrafting the pattern which is silly. This prototype leaves no room for error as you cannot go back and fix anything.
- The fabrics should be sortable by tag in the shop.
- Increase the clickable "hit" box for the scissors, They were annoying to put back down.
- and finally more accessories! I really loved adding buttons and I wanted a lot more options. On that note, I would love if the game included stuff like hats, gloves or fans that you could add to an outfit for extra points in whatever category and extra money. Like upselling a rewards card.
I really hope this becomes a full game at some point, but I loved your protype no matter what. Thanks for putting it up for people to play.
