Tourtle rated Ready, Set, Go Sprout! [DANDY'S WORLD FANGAME]

Tourtle rated a game 59 days ago
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS.

This game is really, really good, and thank you so much for making it. The art is really good, especially the various emotions Sprout shows, it really captures his constant helplessness. Vee's dialogue is really good, although every character is written accurately for that matter. Her various insults, generally straightforward attitude, and ultimate support are perfect extensions of the character we see in Dandy's World proper. This game really captures the feeling of  talking to a crush and trying simultaneously to confess as subtly as possible while also completely avoiding the subject. Some interactions with Cosmo had me literally holding shift and down, desperate for Sprout to stop embarrassing himself and run away. Yet, I think it ends with the perfect message on situations like this. It's all really adorable, sweet, and amazing.

Although, I also enjoyed the minor horror vibe sprinkled in. It reminds me a lot of Omori, which I also recognized in the baking sound effects! It doesn't resolve at all, but there's this strange sense of trauma I get from Sprout, in the closet and especially at the door in the mains room. I wonder if there's more I missed somewhere, too. There's a lot of other small secrets and bits of dialogue I found, so I might end up decompiling the project to look through it some more. Which is also to say...

I'm a bit of a game programmer! I've been messing with RPG Maker all my life, and I feel like there's a lot more potential in a Dandy's World game like this. I'm not sure if you have any ideas about that, neither do I really, but I could see some more short minigames, or even full combat. My discord is .tourtle , period included, and I'd love to help you program a future project, or even just talk some more. But more than anything, thank you for making such a wonderful little experience.
