Elf on the Shelf has always been very creepy to me, so to see it get translated to the horror genre just makes a lot of sense, feels right, and like it could be done well. I also feel like this is something that could've been done years ago, but never was, which is surprising. The developers of MTP GAMES (SmilingFlame and Maclar) do exactly this.
The first game's not long in the slightest (can be beaten in roughly 4 minutes or so), but the simplicity of it all works. With that being said, though, it would've been nice if there were more of a story and more to do in this game. Thankfully, the sequel does give more, but that's a different review. I do like that the creators behind this game went with pixelated PS1-style graphics. I've always found that kind of style to be neat, cool, and, if it's a horror game, can make the experience a bit more creepy. In addition, I was bracing for that jumpscare at the end, and it still got me.
Even though I would've liked to have seen more from this game, I still had a fun time and would recommend it. Now, time to move on to the sequel!
