review made after about 2h of playtime.
- died once to thirst
- gambled away my money with a throw away char
- cleared a bandit cave
- got a castle to name my own
- traveled the land and spoke to towns folk
- did not manage to dig out treasure (because I am to stupid xD)
Played this game as some research to one of my own projects. I wanted to explore how the overworld was implemented in the Temple of Tourment.
I would call this an RPG with roguelike mechanics. The Quests are your usual "get there", "bring me that", "kill this one" and therefor simple but I encountered at least one fairly well written one (the castle quests).
Speaking of the castle quest - in which game are you getting a castle after 60min of playtime!!! Love that xD
Difficulty wise I started my first (real) run on easy - and it is certainly easy especially when you can also rest until healed (a known roguelike feature). I did not yet died aside from the first time when I was too dumb to watch my thirst level...
The game felt a little slow at the beginning, I assume it will pick up once you find the temple? Also there seems to be a mode where you can start directly in the temple? But I did not tried that so far.
I guess I will be back.
