GrugMan rated Catlateral Damage

GrugMan rated a game 5 years ago
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Fun, cute little game to pass the time. While it does seem like a bit of a gimmick, (it was developed for a game jam after all), there was enough side content to keep me satisfied, and it felt rewarding to unlock new things, rather than pointless add-ons to bolster the gaming. The controls are fairly intuitive, although with full upgrades the jump becomes a little out of control, but I think that just adds to the ridiculousness of the game. You would expect a game like this to just have the gimmick of "haha cat funny, please buy", but it came as a pleasant surprise when I found myself deeply enthralled in speeding to achieve the goal as fast as possible. The game also has some brilliantly engineered moments, where nothing is explicitly said, but putting 2+2 together leads to a moment of devious realization. For example, in the Mewseum, finding something massive to knock over (won't spoil what, you'll just have to buy it and find out ;) ), I stared in awe before erupting in devilish laughter at the chaos I was about to unleash. Overall, this game really gets you into the mindset of a cat hellbent on destruction, and is definitely worth $10.
