I thought based off the colors for the different limbs that each limb was on its own layer. They are not.
Everything is just on one layer. Which is fine.
But just depending on your workflow... You might need to chop up the body/limbs and separate them each frame. Not a huge deal since they're 7-12 frame animations. But just an FYI for anyone in the future if you're wondering the same thing.
The animations are good!
The attack animations specifically have the attack cone on a separate layer (Once again, nothing bad. Just noting it for review purposes).
Each animation comes in an overall animation aseprite file, eg. idle.aseprite, walk.aseprite, etc. (Which has all directions in 1 file) as well as each direction in their own separate files eg. idle_NE.aseprite, walk_SE.aseprite, etc.
As well as an individual "Sprite Sheet" folder, which has the complete animation sprite sheet on a transparent BG (in .png), as well as one with the background. One thing I will note that is different. The attack full sprite sheet (With background) has a shadow, where the other full sprite sheets (With background) do not have shadows. Once again 100% not an issue. Just noting it.
Each aseprite file is in a 64x64 canvas (For idle, walk, run) except attack which is 96x96 to make room for the attack cone/slash, with either 2-4 other layers. 1 layer for the character sprite, another 1 or 3 layers for the background or attack cone. But the actual sprite from edge to edge itself (Frame 1 - cause animations) for IDLE:
N: 12x26
NE: 12x28
E: 10x27
SE: 14x27
S: 12x26
SW: 14x27
W: 10x27
NW: 12x28
Just to give you an idea of the overall size of the actual character sprite. Obviously, walk, run and attack have different sizes here. BUT this is generally around the size of the sprite for the most part.
Overall, really well done. If you need limbs on a separate layer, you will need to chop them up yourself! Hopefully we will see new animations, like death and damaged the most.
The only other big issue is that there isn't any sort of damage/death animation right now.
For any all in 1 sprite template. There needs to 100% be a hit/damage reaction, and death. Which I know is already listed, but those are very important.
Other than that some possible additions IMO would be something like:
Some general CC animation. Like a stun.
A general casting animation.
Some sort of use/interact animation.
Possibly a separate loot interaction (Like looting a chest/bag) if maybe crouched?
Jump, Climb, Swim or Crouch animations.
