Yttreia rated Maya's Big Adventure

A browser game made in HTML5.

Kinda surprisingly, it's not a basic platformer, it's more like N+ or Dustforce, that kind of "speedrun-bait" platformer. That's kinda annoying from the perspective of being a fetish game since it means you can't just turn your brain off and hop around doing regular platformer stuff, you gotta carefully wall-jump past spikes and platform across 1-tile blocks while keeping your speed up so you can make the final jump.
From THAT perspective, it does okay. The weight gain power is clunky as hell and you bounce fairly irregularly, while the floating power is my favorite of the two from a fetish perspective but doesn't "integrate" into the fast-paced gameplay the dev's aiming for. (Imagine if Dustforce/N+/Celeste gave you a powerup that lets you do Dedede's Smash Bros floating jump and cuts your speed to about 1/3.)
It's not like the platforming itself is that simple either, as it's physics-based like a Sonic game, where the angle of the platform affects your jump height/distance/angle/speed (and the WG-mode's bounce angle), which makes it pretty technical too, which again I find really odd in a WG/inflation platformer.

Is there a market for fast-paced speedrun-bait fetish platformers? I dunno, but at the very least there's a custom level creator and you can just bypass the included levels entirely.
None of this makes it "bad", just confusing. I'd still recommend people try it, but I just figure a lot of people will probably quit before finishing the first level.
