Unfortunately the developer, who created a great game, wants it to be played for 50 years and for that, his method is to slow things down by an order of magnitude every time there is a big update. 

So instead of having a 2-3 years game with a feeling of progression (a great feat), it's disappointment after disappointment and becomes something you have to check every day just so you can actually make significant progress every 3 to 6 months.

I have never seen a single comment on the game that appreciated it as a good thing (at best it's "it's his game, he does whatever he wants" which is true but does not make the game enjoyable), only complaints, but still, every 6 months, the dev keeps diluting everything to ensure it takes forever to progress.
